CATCH THE BUZZ WITH PATRICK DEARBORN Have you Caught the Buzz? You know what I mean. It’s the constant rumble of excitement and ruminations amongst those lucky enough to live in the paradise called Naples. It’s the hum that reverberates between those lucky Floridians of SWFLA who might say to each other: “Pinch me I can’t believe I live here in the greatest community in the entire country—maybe the entire world.” It’s how REALTOR® Patrick Dearborn of John R. Wood Realtors also feels about this community where he lives with his family and why he works so diligently to ensure it retains its charm and livability while sustaining its current growth. Patrick also believes so strongly about Naples and giving back to this community, that he wants everyone to “catch the buzz”.

But, those who know Patrick will tell you that the buzz isn’t just about the community, it’s about Patrick himself. As a proud resident of Naples for many years, Patrick loves calling this tropical paradise home. Shortly after Patrick’s son Cooper was born, he and his wife Lisa decided to move from Maryland to Naples. They were looking for a lifestyle change. Patrick shares this, “We wanted to get away from the cold weather. We wanted to raise our son where he could be outside all the time. I was drawn to Real Estate here in SWFLA because of my love for this area. I’d always contemplated this industry and thought if you’re going to do it, do it here in ‘paradise’. So I incorporate my love of the area into every sale I do. When I get buyers from all over the country and world, I don’t only want to show them all the wonderful homes and investment deals here, I want to show them all the beautiful places we have and get to enjoy everyday like the beaches, Venetian Village, Waterside Shops, 5th Ave, Tin City, 3rd St, the Naples Pier, our spectacular daily sunsets, the new water park and so on.” Real estate is Patrick’s passion and he is often heard saying, “I love real estate and the process of helping people find the home/investment property of their dreams!”

Patrick’s professional background can be traced back to his service for our country where he served honorably in the US ARMY-82nd AIRBORNE Division. He was awarded the Army’s Good Conduct Medal and the US Army Achievement Award for superior service above and beyond the call of duty. He has taken the meaning of this award and applied it to his life and the way he conducts his business. “You’ve got to be proactive in this market. Business isn’t going to walk up to your door. We live in Paradise, but we need to reach out and let everyone know what a great place SWFLA is to invest or own a 2nd home. I see our market currently on an upward trend. With continuing low interest rates, and the economy continuing to show promise, we should be looking at a very busy 2007 Real Estate Market here in SWFLA!”

But Patrick doesn’t really want us talking so much about him, in fact he insists that he wouldn’t have the success he currently enjoys without the many mentors who helped him along the way and still play an important role in his career and his life. “I’m fortunate to have been associated with good real estate companies here and have had the privilege of working with many fantastic Realtors/Leaders! David Cole is the Broker for VIP Realty and to this day continues to be a mentor and friend. At NABOR, Arlene Carozza (2007 President Elect) and our past president Jo Carter were instrumental along with Jeri Cobb in getting me involved and very active in NABOR. Spencer Haynes (our 2007 President) has been a good friend and mentor along with Joe Ballarino (Realtor of the Year 2006), Jim Pillon (Former President) and many others have ALL been very supportive. I truly believe NABOR is one of if not the strongest board in Florida; I am proud and humble to be a part of it. More agents need to get involved and one of my goals in 2007 is to continue to reach out and get more of my fellow agents involved. We are all in this together—part of the ‘Buzz’ we enjoy here in SWFLA is because of the people just mentioned.”

Patrick stays actively involved in the community as a proud member of the Naples Area Board of Realtors; currently serving as a Director for the Florida Association of Realtors, Graduating Member of the Prestigious Nabor Leadership Development Class 2005, Chairperson of the successful NABOR/WCR Trade Expo 2005 and 2006, VICE-Chair for the Professional Development Committee and member for the Realtor Political Action Committee. Patrick is also a member of the N.A.P.L.E.S Group (Naples Area Professional League of Executive Services), Naples Chamber of Commerce, Women’s Council of Realtors, National Association of Realtors and Young Professionals of Naples. Patrick also qualified for 'Presidents Club' and the ‘Gold Award’ at former companies for achievement in Real-Estate. He was awarded the ‘Superior Sales Award’ from the WCR for 2005 and is listed in ‘Who’s Who in Luxury Real-Estate’. Patrick just finishes 3rd overall in sales for 2006 for John R Wood Uptown office. Patrick donated a portion of all his earned commissions in 2005 to the Red Cross (and directly to the victims in Florida). He also donated to the Sunshine Kids and Habitat for Hummanity in 2006. Patrick donates time and resources to Goodwill, The American Cancer Society, The Salvation Army, and gives blood regularly. He has pledged to donate a portion of all earned commissions in 2007 to go to the Eductation Foundation of Collier County 'Take Stock in Children' program.

Patrick’s family is his greatest strength and they support him every day. “My wife Lisa, step daughter Melody and son Cooper are WHY I work hard and continue to find ways to grow-not only as a Realtor, but as a husband, father and human being. My mother and father raised me the right way and taught me to always “be humble and thankful for each day and for all the blessings I have. As I look at my family, I am truly blessed!” He and his family belong to St. Monica’s Episcopal Church which they enjoy attending regularly.
